Don't Let Your Lighting Heat Your Home

As warmer weather approaches, now is a great time to think about whether or not the lighting in your home is costing you unnecessary cash to cool your home. According to energy.gov, only about 10% to 15% of the electricity that incandescent lights consume results in light—the rest is turned into heat. This could lead to some rooms in your home contributing negatively to your cooling system's attempts to keep the room cool.

We recommend considering switching to LEDs where possible.  (Some more information about LEDs and other lighting options can be found here at energy.gov).
