Hot Tub/ Spa Installations

  • Hot Tub/ Spa Installations test

As more brands become available at affordable prices, many homeowners are purchasing hot tubs for their homes these days.  These tubs bring an element of relaxation and therapy to any home, and can be great for entertaining.  But before you run out and purchase a new hot tub, there are a few considerations you should take into account first.

Most hot tubs today require a 220-240 volt, 50-60 amp dedicated service line to be installed, and most, if not all, townships will require a permit for this work.  It is important that your electrician not only be experienced and aware of the local codes, but also understand why they exist.  This knowledge will assist in any problem solving or layout/design decisions that need to be made, to ensure your service line is not only up to code, but aesthetically pleasing as well.

Other considerations to account for are distance from power lines, location and distance from the GFCI emergency shutoff box, and allowable tie ins to the spa electrical setup once the service line is brought to the spa.  Only an experienced electrician who knows the ins and outs of these situations should be planning and executing this type of work.  At Ronco Electric, we have installed dozens of hot tubs, and are extremely knowledgeable of all of your local building codes.

Under-estimating, or not accounting for, the proper electrical service line installation of your hot tub can cost you time and money in the long run.  Don“t just hire any electrician who may not meet code requirements, or install your service line in an unsightly manner.  If you are considering adding a hot tub or spa to your home, give us a ring at 732.938.2094 for a free consultation and estimate of the electrical work you will need done.   We“d be happy to go over your planned setup, identify any potential issues we see, and give you a detailed estimate of the work required.
